Man, I see why he hides it....slick!

No.7  of ‘The Cast of Project SouthBound’...if you need a problem sorting it out, he’s your man! It’s ‘The Brother with the Red Suit’, Benson!

While Cedric Harvey was growing up, he would watch his father as he would follow everywhere he went. He watched him play his card games along with doing his work for his business, not knowing what he was doing until many years later. Cedric would find out that his father was doing some illegal shipments. Knowing for a fact that it would break his mother's heart, Cedric kept quiet until he decided to blackmail his own father. Chris wondered why until his son warned of his own words, "Never play the cards of the Fool!” Cedric bailed his father out from any trouble. After seeing what his son did for him, Chris decided to quit as Cedric decided to live his own life.

After that, Cedric would have some problems as he was a target for his father's mistakes. One night, he was confronted by the people who his father stole from. As he was about to be killed, Cedric decided to launch a barrage of sharp projectiles at a fast speed. In a fit of shock, Cedric headed back. Worried about the consequences, Cedric told his parents what happened. As he mentioned that, Sabrina explained to his son about the mysterious powers. It turned out that he inherited the Energy of Super Reflexes from his mother.

With his parents explaining what happened, Cedric fully understood the risks for having such a ability. Throughout the years, Cedric controlled his super abilities as Chris and Sabrina were proud of him controlling the Super Reflexes. He decided to wear a red and black suit as he was going by his nickname, Benson. From that point, Benson decided not to go down the same road as his father but willing to help others out within the community. Everything was going well, that was until "she" came into his life!

Benson would bump into a woman called Sheva Sutherland. Attracted by her looks, he was willing to help but it was more than he bargained for! Sheva was having a tough time so he helped her get back in shape personally. Thanks to his help, Sheva kept her body and powers intact. At that time, Benson thought that Sheva did not trust him as she tried to keep her super abilities a secret! However, she saw that Benson as guy who respects anyone or anything. One day, Benson was heavily concerned about Sheva as he wondered what she meant by "wanting more!". Benson decided not to get in her way of what she wants! A few weeks later, Benson would see Sheva taking a downward spiral with her best friends that she grew up with were killed in an unlawful attack! He saw her having a mental breakdown as Sheva was blamed for the deaths which lead to her committing suicide almost! Benson stopped her from doing the attempt as she was about to take the jump from the SouthBound Bridge.

Benson was worried about her frame of mind as he took Sheva went to see her sister, Dawnice about getting help from her new husband. He explained to both Dawn and her ‘other half’ Sean what happened with her recently. Thanks to Benson's help once again, Sheva learned the super fighting arts of the Legendary Fist of Secret Channels along with earning a new super technique, "Energy of Strength" which Benson would feel sooner rather than later. Because of his actions, Benson was offered to join the Brotherhood as he gladly accepted.

A few months later, Sheva thanked Benson for everything that he did for her! Being the modest guy, he told that it was nothing but Sheva wanted more! Benson wondered what she meant until he pushed him to the ground and kissed him. Benson told her that he fully understands and from that point, this would start a short-lived relationship between himself and Sheva. However, Benson would find out that Sheva was on the warpath in revenge! He confronted her about it as Sheva admitted what she wanted. This made Benson think twice about her as he could go not through with it anymore! Benson decided to let her do what she wants to do in life which indicated the break-up. Defiant in a romantic way, Sheva would not allow it which sparked off her true feelings towards him and hinting commitment to him. Benson told her the reason as he didn’t want to hurt her in the process but he cannot be a part of her plans. Sheva refused to let him go as she hugged him hard. Benson kissed her and told her that when she does the right thing, to come and find him. Sheva became torn and hurt as Benson left for new ventures.

Storyline Fact:  Benson actually beat Raoul Johnson also known as ‘Master Ace’ at a card game! Luckily, no money was involved!

The concept idea of Benson was actually based of Oswald from KOF XI (appearance wise) and Gambit (personality wise) but with a twist! Around October 2011 and September 2012 respectively, the concept line arts were done but unfortunately, nothing was continued. Fast forward to 2017, Benson got a full work over from the 2012 line concept top to bottom and it was needed to show his presence!
